Home Remedy for Sore Throat:

Mango Bark: Mango bark proves effective in treating sore throat and other disorders of throat. Its pulp extracted by grinding can be used as a gargle. This mango bark gargle is made by mixing 125 ml of water with 10 ml of the fluid extract.

Belleric Myroblan: "Belleric myroblan" or "beleric" or " Terminalia bellirica" is the remedy for effective throat pain reliever. Prepare a mix of 2 grams of the fruit pulp, with 1/4 tsp of salt, 1/2 tsp of pepper and two tsp of honey.

Bishop's Weed: Mix common salt with Bishop's weed seeds, it can be used as a gargle to treat acute conditions of sore throat caused by a common cold.

Cinnamon: Cinnamon is an excellent remedy for sore throat resulting from a cold. Prepare a mix of a teaspoon of powdered cinnamon boiled in water, with a pinch of pepper powder. Take this with honey. It serves as a wonderful home remedy for sore throat, which can be taken as a medicine. 2-3 drops of cinnamon oil mixed with one teaspoon honey also gives good relief.

Fenugreek Seeds: To prepare this fenugreek seed gargle, simmer two tablespoons of fenugreek seeds in a liter of water 30 minutes over a low flame. Allow it to cool, then strain it, and use as gargle.

Henna: Henna leaves are also helpful to treat sore throat. Prepare a decoction (extract by boiling) of the henna leaves, and use as gargle.

Basil leaves: Basil leaves (Ocimum basilicum) works as disinfectant, antiseptic and antioxidant. Basil leaves have been found very helpful in alleviating sore throat. Boil fresh basil leaves in water. It can be taken as a drink, to improve the immunity of the body, or as gargle to relieve from sore throat.

Kantakari: The extract of the herb kantakari (Solanum Xanthocarpum) is a good solution to sore throat. Wash the herb well, and prepare a decoction and use as gargle.

Liquorice: Liquorice (root of Glycyrrhiza glabra or yeshtimadhu) is a good home remedy for sore throat in many parts ofIndia. Chew or suck a small piece of raw liquorice for treating sore throat, this reduces inflammation in the throat quickly.

Sage: Sage (Salvia officinalis) is another cure that is very effectual for sore throat. Pour 1/2 liter boiling water on a handful of sage leaves. Allow it to cool down, and a bit of vinegar and honey to suit taste. Use this mixture as a gargle.

Green Tea with Ginger: A decoction made from green tea leaves with ginger is very helpful in the healing of a sore throat. Prepare a decoction of green tea and ginger. It serves as a good and excellent home remedy for sore throat.

Tamarind: Powder dry leaves of tamarind; prepare a decoction and use as gargle for treating sore throat.
