Treatment and Prevention of Urinary Tract Infection (UTI)
As many people know Urinary Tract Infections are nothing to mess with. The infection can actually cause additional problems if left untreated. If you don't have time to make it to the doctor's office there are alternatives, that can either help or even get rid of the infection.
SYMPTOMS Many people are unaware of the symptoms that are associated with a Urinary Tract infection. The symptoms are as follows: urgency of urination, frequency of urination, burning sensation upon urination, cloudy urine, dark colored urine, stomach pain and even fever. For the fever, this is one sure sign that the infection, could actually be within the kidneys, you will need to seek a physician for this and get placed on a round of antibiotics for a period of time. It is recommended that we drink between 6 and 8 glasses of water a day. However, we all find ourselves not taking care of this special rule. For people who do have a huge problem with urinary tract infections, it is best to make sure that you do drink the correct amount of fluids through out the day. Drink that water. If you don't do it, then you might want to consider what drinking a lot of water can do for you.
By drinking a large amount of water, it can actually help you flush out all the bacteria that builds up in your body. This isn't just about getting rid of a UTI either, this is also about refreshing, relaxing and helping the rest of your body as well. Although many of us can't stand the taste, cranberry juice is one of the best defenses against UTIs.
By drinking at least one cup a day, we can reduce our chance of getting an infection significantly. One way to reduce the urgency feeling is to drink something warm. If you don't care for warm drinks, you may want to force yourself to do so. By drinking a cup of hot tea, water or any other hot beverage, this will help you to calm the urgency for a little while. Many have stated that using this method really helps them when they can't get to a doctors office. If you caught your infection soon enough, usually flushing your system will help a great deal better and faster than by going to the doctor and being placed on a series of antibiotics. PREVENTION It is said that by taking preventative measure is a great way to go. By making simple but important changes to our lives is the key. Do you like to soak away your troubles in a soothing bath? Well, unfortunately, this can be a big problem for many that do get UTIs easily. A combination of issues will cause a UTI to pop up after you have been in a warm bath. Cut the amount of time you spend in the water down, this is a good start. If you like to linger in the tub for more than half an hour, then you could be in trouble. This gives bacteria a chance to get into your body more easily, surrounded by the warmth, the bacteria have a way of invading your body.
By taking shorter baths, you are actually cutting down on the many that may enter. After you have gotten out of the tub, be sure to urinate right away, this will help your body expell any water or anthing else that may have penetrated. Where cotton underwear, there are a lot of great styles available on the market, this is another simple change you can make. By wearing cotton, you allow more air flow to your body parts, many other materials that underwear happen to be made out of don't breath well for our bodies, that is because in many cases, the material is manufactured out of man made goods. After making love, it is a good idea to attempt to urinate shortly after, again, the body picks up bacteria during this wonderfully fun time. However, if you aren't careful, you leave yourself open for an infection.
